Looks mad and wish we had more pave in Sydney.....but without putting a dampener on it..... I can't understand WHY motorists in Melb would hate cyclists so much. I train 3-4 hours a day in Sydney and have never seen such a disregard for the road rules en masse.
I bet some of the users here also deck their bikes out in "Share The Road" and "Burn Fat Not Oil" stickers!!?
Its a fragile issue drivers v riders and after seeing this.....we don't look like we're supporting our argument too well. Just a thought.

Re: Fyxomatosis Melburn-Roobaix

Simon - excellent photos!

Brendan - well done on the podium finish! Can you give us the inside scoop?

Re: Fyxomatosis Melburn-Roobaix

I've put a photo set up here http://www.flickr.com/photo... from the day including shots of my modified Kona Ute with the beers on board. Sold them all at the end which was a relief as didn't fancy cycling back to Mt. Martha with them. Funny thing was they didn't explode on opening. The gas seemed all to be out of solution and the caps simply flew a great distance. The Ute's rack needs re-varnishing and there's a minor wheel buckle that needs attention. But well worth it.

Re: Fyxomatosis Melburn-Roobaix

Great vid! The camera footage is just like I'm there.. You even had a second look a the cute cyclist in the stripey singlet (at the 5:09 mark) just like I would have!

Re: Fyxomatosis Melburn-Roobaix

Hey anonymous....the kick ass band is MGMT. Hundreds of people out there enjoying themselves on bikes in Melbourne. Thanx Andy (fyxamatosis) for creating and running such a fantastic event. Your hard work really is appreciated! Looking forward to next year already!

Re: Fyxomatosis Melburn-Roobaix

This is the type of event that adds some real character to Melbourne. You don't see many other cities in the world that have something like this. Thanks fyxomatosis!

Re: Fyxomatosis Melburn-Roobaix

So we have two legends of the sport, and proven winners at the event, giving us contradictory tips: 67psi and 130psi. Surely there must be more to this. Knowing both, I'm assuming that Matt's lower weight might allow the lower pressure. I also know Matt to run tubulars which don't pinch-flat anywhere near as easy. Surely the truth is out there. CT, well done for filming and recording this great event.

Re: Fyxomatosis Melburn-Roobaix

great tune. With numbers in the 500+ riders it must have been a massive undertaking.
