Cycling Tips: How To Treat An Injured Cyclist

    Hell yeah, forget about the bike. Rider first, bike second.

    Once you get the rider stable (as above), or if they are relatively ok, help with getting the details of the car/driver. If they aren't able to, t
    ake a mobile phone cam shot of the car and accident corner. The rider may need it later for evidence.

    I got hit by a car illegally turning last year and, while I was able to get up and walk to the footpath with my bike, the idiot commuter cyclist that pulled up didn't bother getting off his bike and all he suggested was "don't get angry about it". I think in a situation like that you're entitled to be 'angry about it' and in the event of another cyclist being in trouble, I'd hope I could be of more use to someone than that.

    yes...great point. Getting the driver's details is extremely important. Also get a tetanus shot if there are any cuts. Lots of disease in those dirty roads

    Thanks Jo. Hopefully someone reading this will know what to do the next time the situation arises. Stuff like this is always put on the backburner and writen off as something you'll never need to know.

    Also having an ICE number put into your phone in case you're the victim is a good idea. Paramedics are trained to look for this number in your mobile phone

    Hey Thanks buddy you have mentioned great points on how to take care of injured cyclist. If everyone paid attention to what they were doing and showed a little courtesy, people wouldn't be injured or even die on our roads nearly as often.
